This is how the oilcooler housing and gasket looks like...

Does this improve your thoughts..?

Now I´m just waiting for gaskets to arrive and today the head went to the shop for refreshment!

Though I´m still wondering if the head was ok how did the water enter the exhaust..?

/Peter

Oil blow bye, via the rings could have caused the exhaust issue.

What do the cylinders look like? Any scoring or are they worn (i.e. still round), this will cause blow by.

+1 ... If water gets into the crankcase, it becomes a swedish sauna in there and the steam will find its way up past the rings.

Which I believe is also the reason why you had the white glaze on your valves.

Thanks for your diagnosis doctors! Seems like a solid explanation. So in fact the head could be in good shape and also the gasket!?

Well now it will be fixed anyway and gaskets for oilcooler. I'm also doing the oilpan gasket since it's leaking and will take a look at the rod bearings.

And if we who lives in Sweden uses this amount of steamy sauna water I wonder how much the Finnish guys use! ;-)

If you are going to the trouble of pulling the oil pan, change the bearings. As long as they are top notch bearings, properly installed and lubed, you are doing yourself a favor and gaining some long term security.

Also, are all cooler housings the same because I have one cracked from 951 -91 that I'm replacing with a unit from a -87 and the 87 unit had the 3-piece with a spring and the 91 had the one piece.
So can I take the early housing and put on the -91 block with the -91 1-piece OPRV?

Thanks
