Rich in some spots like idle/mid-range does not mean it doesn't go lean somewhere else, like in the high-RPM ranges. This is definitely dangerous and even more so if you lean it out.
You can play with the spring preload on the AFM flapper-door.
Also look under my 951 RacerX website under FQS adjustments where you can make minor +/- 3.1% changes.

How would messing with the spring preload in the AFM flapper-door help and I do you do that? Also I noticed on the FQS adjustments you can mess witht the spark adjustment. What would this do for you and when would you want to mess with that? Thanks for the help

Coolhand ... I woud take it to a reputable garage and have them set up the mixture. I had the following done: Terracleaned the injectors, replaced the O2 sensor, installed test tube PO had removed, and tightened up all vacuum hoses/intake hoses and fixed exhaust leaks. The car runs a lot stronger and I passed our Province of Ontario emissions test:
2362 RPM Idle 905 RPM
Limit Reading Limit Reading
HC ppm 127 9 300 8
CO% 0.71 0.01 1.50 0.00
NO ppm 1415 413 N/A N/A
The above numbers are not bad for a 18 year old car (Nov. 1985). It does run sweet and there is a good kick in the pants when the turbo kicks in!

I agree with Jaak, if the car is stock, a good garage should be able to dial the car back to original specs. The reason this is hard to do yourself is the gas analyzer. Unless you are running a business, it is hard to justify the cost of these units. Most of time a good tune up and injector cleaner will do the trick. Then take it to a garage and have them check out the numbers.
