Hi, I purchased an 86 944 turbo 9 months ago with 40k miles. Twice in the last 2 months I've hade the exhaust manifold studs nearest the firewall at the rear of the engine break off in the head. Does anyone have any idea as what would cause this?? This last time when it happened, the #3 manifold pipe also cracked. What would cause these studs to break off like this. I have a "Performance Products" Catalog in front of me, and there is an advertisement for B&B Headers for a 944 Turbo. The ad reads B&B Exhaust has the answer to those broken 944 Turbo headers. Is this problem that common, because I can't find anyone in our area that acknowledges that there is /was any problem. If a new design header would indeed solve this problem, who makes the best for this car. Better performance would be nice, but I don't want the car to sound like a track car.
