Post Removing old rearview mirror mount?

Tried a search of the archives and no answer...

I'm replacing the wobbly rear view mirror and mount in my 86 951. What's the safest way to remove the old mounting block without damaging the windshield glass?

Thanks!

Mine always fell off.

But I'd suggest using a straight edge razor blade and slowly working it off.

Perhaps heating it up with a hairdryer might help soften the glue?

That's why mine keep falling off! Hot Texas summers!
