Default rod bearings -- measuring clearances?

so i'm done w/my rod bearings and was wondering if there's anything i missed. i removed the old ones, lubed up the new ones, and used new rod nuts as well.

are there any clearances i need to be checking? or is it as easy as just putting it all back together and torquing things down.

thanks!

You can use plastigauge to check the clearance -- good way to confirm everything is standard dimensions.

+1 on plastigage.
Don't use a micrometer unless you KNOW what your doing. It is unbelievably easy to scratch the journals, enough to have to have them polished, with the edges of the micrometer.

any guidance would be awesome, and much, much appreciated.

If you hadn't been so busy installing new stuff you would have had hours to search the internet and might have ended up with this

If you have already installed the new bearings and torqued the nuts down; let me ask you this:

Did you replace these as part of general maintenance?
Did you see any scoring or strange wear on the Journals or Bearing Shells?

If you answer: Yes, Then No - I wouldn't bother goin back to check the clearance.

If you answer: No, Then Yes - Plastigauge will likely tell you your crank is out of spec, and it should be removed, and fixed... *

*Are oversized bearings an option in these cars?
