Default My First Turbo All Records, 34K miles

Had 2 968s and an S2 which were all great cars in their own rights. I've been on Rennlist for about 8 years and honestly didn't get why there is so much of a cult around the 951. Hunted this one purposely for airbags, ABS (87' black on black) but couldn't find one with LSD.

First impression included a ton of pride of ownership but being bone stock it lacked ALL the low end the others had and the boost wasn't heartstopping either likely because the spring in the wastegate. Had to install a new stereo as it had the oem Blaupunkt and I've since got my shopping list going which includes new TIAL wastegate, Exhaust (maybe BB since their here and dug the one he put on the S2), MAF, larger intercooler and maybe water injection (NO alcohol whatsoever).

Added a Lindsey BE and already seeing why these things are Sooooooooo much fun.

Congrats. Great find. I have an 86 that had 38k on the odometer when I bought it last year. Curious as to what you paid for it. You can PM me if you want to share that info, if not, no biggie. Good luck. Hope the mod bug doesn't bite you as hard as it has me.

Wow...history on wheels! Not many turbos left that are 100% stock (of course the Cup II rims only came on the 968 CS from the factory). It even has the sticker on the cam housing that is no longer available. Any chance you can take a high res picture of the sticker and post? I would like to have one made for my car.

He asked $13,500, it took a little while for me to coordinate the long distance purchase but I got him down to $12,500. Since it took a while (months) to get everything in order I ended up volunteering to pay the full amount (was worth it).

Only thing wrong was the stereo, a couple rock chips, that's it... I put the Cup IIs on it that I had from a previous car (or two actually) and just sold the 16" phone dials on ebay.

Having a TON of fun with it but since putting on the LBE I have an oil leak (may have turned it up a pound or so). Mistake I know....

Thanks I searched passively for about 3 years and everything finally aligned allowing me to buy one.

But now have an oil leak, passenger side, around inside of front right wheel. Could it be a seal??

Haven't put it up on a rack but it would it would be a strange coincidence after potentially squeezing a lb or 2 too much pressure that it would be PS fluid.

I was just reading another post that a guy listed on Pelican mentioning the same sort of thing. A guy responded saying it was likely the oil filter seal, which it turned out was the cause. Without trying to sound like a complete dumbass, could that potentially be the case here??

It could be the oil filter seal, but I wouldn't think a lb our two more boost would create the leak.. Maybe five lbs more...

No manual boost controller so it could have been 5 lbs. Went back first thing after seeing it and made sure the LBE is set at factory.

The S2 and 968s were fun to work to get a little more HP because of not worrying about overboost (I'm a pig when it comes to speed but I learned my lesson).

I would recommend replacing the fuel lines over the headers so it doesn't go up in flames!
