Do you have fuel pressure? DME relay is pretty common, also causes loss of spark.

Thanks for all the replies guys, it ended up being the crank position sensor.

I distinctly remember, my 84 944 ran w/this sensor disconnected. It ran like crap, and wouldn't even rev past 2k or so but it did run.

Again, thanks a bunch for the help.

alarm wise, i beleive you can pull the 2 (power) wires going to the little alarm box mounted to the panel that holds the DME/KLR

Right, the second time I typed them, I forgot to reverse the 8 w/the 3. The chip #s are what I posted on the first line however. I wonder if this means I have a "late" 86...

Thanks for the info on bypassing the alarm. I have already got the car running, it has been vandalised however, and I'm going to be working on some things before I drive it again (windows broken, rear spoiler ripped off, etc.)

oh man that's terrible i'd go w/ an aftermarket alarm like a viper, dei, compustar, etc... something w/ shock sensors, fuel-cut, and possibly/preferably 2-way paging so u can keep track of the vehicle.

you can diagnose the sensors with an oscilliscope, or a sensitive LED. (dunno the specs on the LED)

Man, that sucks! I know how you feel, 2 of mine were hit in 1 night before. All of my vehicles have been burgularized at 1 time or another =(

I wonder what happened to the rear spoiler, were they trying to steal it?

Nothing like this has ever happened to me before, I suppose it had to happen...

I think they stepped on that thing, I'm not really sure how they broke it like that...

Anyway, I've paid for full insurance on my 944s since I was 16 so I don't feel bad making Allstate pay for it this time around!

I am planning to get a window from a junk yard, take off that spoiler and attach some sort of tabs to it, and bolt it back on using the factory mounting locations. The blower didn't work in any setting but 4 and the ac button didn't stay in. I'll probably buy a used one from e-bay. I had an aiwa mp3 player (list `$250), and an infinity sub with a 200watt rms amp (listed for ~$450).

I was trying to figure out how much I should settle for w/the insurance company, any input there?
Thanks.

Well, I got payed a tad over $600. They did not cover the subs/amp. I think doing the work myself the car should be back the way it was for that much... Oh well.

I hope they find the guys who did it, and I think there's a fair chanse that they will (the car was screened for finger prints, there's a # of people working on the case and I gave them serial #s, etc.) but don't know if I would press charges.

Anyway, I appreciate all the replies. Thanks again.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to catch someone. They do the fingerprint thing for me too......
If they do find them though you should definitely press charges, or else all of their hard work will have been in vain.

I assume the $600 is after the deductible....better than nothing, but doesn't go far in Porscheland.

I have gotten the 1/4 windows from a local salvege for $15. The last time my car was robbed the guy removed the rear 1/4 without leaving a mark. He then somehow squeezed my sub-box through my rollbar. Luckily he didn't find my amp. They also left my Alpine head unit. It was an $800 competition unit. I had 2 JLaudio comp. subs in the box @ $300 a piece. I fear that someone will rip out my ARCII thinking it is an EQ one time.......that would suck!

I used to live in the inner city and get robbed/vandalized almost monthly......I HAD to move from there. I also had a GSXR750 with an alarm on it, it would go off almost weekly from people coming up and sitting on it.
