OK, so, i just spent 2 hrs looking through the history of the car.... and i found instructions!!! tucked between some invoices from '98? but the work was done in 01 so that's why i didn't find it before....

i don't know if it vetesse though.... its just printed word documents with no names anywhere....
^^the picture shows vetesse written on the chip^^<<correction

it says:

0 & 4: +00% fuel
1 & 5: +05% fuel
2 & 6: -05% fuel
3 & 7: +10% fuel
4,5,6,7: Less Timing

so i would think i could start at "2" and then "6" if i get some knock? since im running rich? remember it was at "0"

input?

Well 2&6 make sense to me. Is it running rich everywhere or only at WOT? Where is the FQS at now?

well, i would say everywhere. it back fires on downshifts even when im not getting on it... and anytime i give it gas to pass someone or from a stop sign its smells pretty bad. even at idle it smells...<<like fuel

i have it on 2 right now but havnt driven it yet.... i will see how it does on the way to work and if its not that great then i will change it to 6 and see what it does on the way home...

Smells like fuel. Is this smell "raw fuel" or exhaust fuel (rich)? You could have a fuel leak. The fuel rails are famous for leaking. Also, there is a black plastic cover under the rear hatch carpet. If that's missing or out of place it will smell like fuel in your car.

Have you checked your fuel pressure? That does not sound like a good situation at all! There was a recall on the fuel lines.

It's a rich smell, I know the difference.... I have only had the car for about a year and a half and all I know is that it was like this since I bought the car.... It's annoying more than anything.... It's not so bad it could kill you, it's just bad enough that my wife can smell it on me when I come home from work or somewhere I was driving my car... She says I smell like my *****.. Lol

I had it set to 2 and it barely wantedto run... Same with 6... I looked up some stuff and found another set of directions someone posted on here from their vetesse stuff and it said 1-55#/2-55#-2 so I moved it to 1 and it ran better but still not right... Then I moved it to 5 and ran smooth and responsive and felt better than ever but still had small backfires here and there and smelled a bit.. Not as bad but still a little.... I set the fuel pressure to 3 bar

I replied to your email twice already, might need to check your SPAM filter.

The FQS settings are unique per chip/board and are supplied at the time of the purchase. Guessing on the settings can be dangerous! Do you have the FQS document for your setup?

I would go back to FQS "0" and fix the "real" cause of the problem. The FQS is just masking it..

Where are you located?
