Default Balance shaft covers do not match block. Is this ok?

Has anyone used balance shaft covers on a different block than the one they originally came on?? I have a good block without covers, and I'm wondering if running different covers will be a problem.

I never tried it. If the shafts spin nicely when fully torqued, I'd probably be willing to try it. Or you could have them aligned bored to remove all doubt...

I remember Chris White saying they are matched to the engine. I am sure he has a way of boring them to insure alignment, give him a call.

There are like three or four different valve covers. They are marked with a number like 1,2 or 3 i believe, so if you match the numbers on your old housings to the new ones, it will work

I was always told they are block matched and they should stay together. Haven't heard anything about number groups.

I know they are stamped with a number code that matches the block, just like the cradle. But I have seen blocks for sale without the covers. The shop manual states that they should be matched. But seeing blocks for sale without covers, and the balance shafts are not supporting any real load like the cradle is, i was wondering if they spec out ok when i check them with plastigauge, if there would be a problem.
