100 percent locking diff. (?)
I have heard of 911 turbo guys that put down a lot of horsepower will have the spiders in their open diff. welded. Anyone hear ever try it? Seems like what would be considered a "poor-man's" posi. - For track only duty.

Yeah, they cease to be differentials at that point and are just spools.
What about the Torsen diffs.? I know they're different than lim. slip, but I'm still having trouble with the consept that they transfer torque before slippage occurs..

You might want to do a search... I know this same exact topic has come up before in the racing forum.<a href="http://forums.rennlist.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=10&t=000575" target="_blank"> In fact, here is the link.</a>
I too used to rent a 944 with the welded spider gears. From what I understand, that car also had some self destruction issues and was later changed to a proper race limited slip diff.

Thanks Sloth
That thread answers the question to my complete satisfaction. I love the fact that someone out there has already gone through the trouble of implimenting these schemes and I get to benefit from their experience, successful or not. We have a real gem here guys!

I am pretty sure that GT and/or Quaife offer units for the 944/951/968 trannys. I know I have an aftermarket unit in mine, though I am not sure who made it.
