Yes, that was my choice. Aquamist first. Only time will tell.

Is the washer fluid a water/alcohol mix? I know that some people run that for water injection. I'd be concerned if it contained antifreeze or soap or something like that.

Hey, I could have had this thing half paid for! Doh!

I don't really need to run race gas, but it's insurance against engine problems. When you're mashing on the gas about 1000 times per track day, it's nice to have a little insurance. I'd just rather have that insurance all the time
Plus I probably run too much boost. <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

Washer fluid is a mixture of water and methylalcohol, in addition to a small quantity of soap. Aquamist says that these solutions are okay to use. I don't see any harm in the small percentage of soap. The water alcohol mix effectively raises the octane of the fuel so the protective effects of running high octane fuels is simulated. The aquamist system acts as the "insurance" against detonation all the time, not just at drivers schools.

I ran one of these in my 931 and just mixed up a coctail of water and alcohol. Worked fine. Mine was a homebuilt kit though, and not Aquamist, though from everything I've heard they're pretty capable kits.

David,
The mixture sounds good. Yes, I know it works all the time, that's why I'm interested. The price just seems to be out of line.

BigPorschGuy,
So can you give us a little detail on your homebrew unit? Total cost involved. Pressurized tank or ?

TIA

David, have you tried to see if Xylene or Toulene will mix with the washer fluid, just in small amounts? Without looking like a petrol product and water,,just curious. Might try that when I get home...

I haven't heard of using toluene except as a fuel additive. I don't know what it will do as part of the water injection system. I would like to see a reference of someone elses experiences first. Also, I still use my tank to spray the windshield, and I don't want toluene sprayed on my car.

Sorry,,didn't realize you still had that hooked up that way. No, don't get toulene or xylene on the paint. I'll try to mix some when I get home and see if it seperates. I've got 10 gallons of xylene in the garage.

Big Porscheguy,

Please give us details. I was researching to build my own due to the cost of a system. I have read other sites that guys build them for a few hundred bucks from home depot parts.
