Default Anybody running a cat and no muffler?

Just wondering I have a 2.5 inch test pipe at the moment but wondering about getting a 3 inch exhaust and using a hi flow Cat without muffler.

They did that on the Dodge SRT4 and it worked. Just a though.

A buddy of mine is running the stock exhaust with no muffler. It is very loud, i would say louder than my full 3", no cat with muffler.

On the neon they ran 2 resonators though. Just keep that in mind. I have ran my car without the back half of the exhaust, I liked it, but it banged around so I didn't get to really hear it too much.

I was wondering about this also... I have a high flow cat with the stock muffler and it is very quiet. The factory muffler is a straight through type isn't it?

Seems like it shouldn't be THAT much louder...

I did not know about the resonators? I was looking under my Toyota Tercel and it has a resonator?

This is just a thought ,I'm dumping the waste gate to atmosphere and actually with out the complicated tie in for the waste gate a 3 inch exhaust looks pretty simple!

it appears your car has two cats to remove before driving.

I can't say for sure how it would work on a 951, but I know that a buddy of mine ran cats, no mufflers and small resonators on his Lotus Esprit V8TT and that car was so loud that it literally shook everything in my 3rd story apartment when he was in the underground parking garage. It sounded good though, absolutely deafening, but good

the stock muffler is very well designed. i drove around with a straight pipe with the stock muffler and it still was quiet.

How well does the stock muffler flow though?

My N/A is pretty loud with the same cat and factory muffler, the Turbo quiets the exhaust down a lot that's why I wondered if the Turbo would be fine without a muffler.

Yep that's my thought exactly, a turbo a cat and no muffler in a 3
inch and I'm dumping the wastegate.

I found the electronic exhaust cutouts on E bay but using that I was worried about a stable AFR with the exhaust open or closed?

But it looks like there is at least one guy running it with no muffler and a cat?
