'86 Turbo - front wheel bearings question
Ok possibly a stupid question, and I suppose I might be able to answer it myself when I get the car apart, but I've got a new set of front bearings here and they look different from what's on the car.
I ordered the front wheel bearing kit from Lindsey for the '86 Turbo. The P/N matches that on the PET so I'm fairly certain I got the right parts here. But what's different is that the new parts - for example, the outer bearing - is a 3 piece bearing (meaning the inner race, the outer race, and the roller part in the middle.)
What's in the car appears to be a 2-piece bearing... an outer race and the roller part. There is no inner race - it rides directly on the spindle.
Did Porsche update these parts at some point to a 3pc bearing and perhaps I still have an early part, or is perhaps my bearing just a different manufacturer or something?

Photo of what I received on the LR site: http://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Pors...AR-944K-1.html
The smaller pair are the outer bearings. Note there is both an inner and outer race.
Once I get the car apart on Saturday afternoon I can post pics of the difference between what I received and what's on the car.

I've not encountered an "inner race" for these, or other older cars that used this setup.
Must be thin rollers that can use an inner AND an outer race
So, without the outer race, the cage/rollers AND inner race are two separate pieces?

Yup. Inner race, rollers/cage, and outer race.
I will post up some pics when I finally take it apart tomorrow afternoon.
Good to know at least that it seems like what I have on my car already is the "norm" and not something silly that the PO messed up.

If you got a Lindsey kit, iirc, it should have come with the inner and out bearings, the race(s) which goes around the bearings that have to be pressed into the hub after you drive the old ones out from either side depending on which you are working on, and a grease seal that gets lighly driven into place on the backside of the hub.
Can you post a pic of what you have? That would help us help you.

No pictures necessary - I am an idiot (or my memory is getting really bad.) Had it apart yesterday - the bearings in there DO have an inner race. I just never paid so close attention to it since it's usually covered in grease... not as easy to notice/identify as the brand new parts. Parts I received are indeed the right parts and match what I have in the car.
Thanks for all the effort and replies, even though I apparently cried wolf here
