Material under hood??
I found a pile of the sound deading material under my car tonight. Can't figure how it made it to the ground, buy anyway. I am going to remove the rest of the material and clean it the best I can until I can replace it.
Anyone have any suggestions on getting the glue off the hood?
TIA...

David and john, the factory insulation, makes a "seal" when the hood is closed with the turbo heat sheid top rubber stripping. This is very important to not overlook as extreme heat can cross between the sheild top and the hood bottom, causing melted master cylinder resevoirs, vaccum lines and such..
Just a word of caution and my 2 cents worth...!

David,
If you suddenly found the pile under your car, you -may-have a rodent infestation. This summer, a mouse decided to make a nest on top of my shock tower, and the hood insulation was the perfect bedding--too bad the b*stard couldn't resist the trap baited with peanut butter . Luckily, I caught him before he started chewing the wiring or interior.

You can remove the adhesive with NAPTHA without damaging the paint.
...and the later year cars did not have the insulation. I remove it when it becomes a problem and do not replace it. I have not seen any "cooked" items that aren't already cooked by the proximity of the turbo (heat transfers regardless of "foam weatherstripping"). Nor have I ever seen any adverse affects to the hood paint, etc.

As the underhood insulation becomes old it starts to deteriate and "flake" off. I used a wet dry vac and "sucked" the stuff right off the hood. This removed the majority of the crud leaving only the glue residue behind.
