Post Lowcost Wideband O2 Sensor/PC Logger

<a href="http://www.lambdaboy.com/main.html" target="_blank">LambdaBoy</a>

$495, not the best looking unit, but the price is very attractive!

Let me know how it goes. I just bought the <a href="http://fjoinc.com/automotive/WBO2details.htm#wbo2rpm" target="_blank">FJO Sensor/Controller/Datalogger kit</a> for $800US before I stumbled on this much cheaper alternative.

Does the TechEdge unit provide datalogging software? Looks like it simply has RS-232 output. One thing that appears to be missing from both datalogging products is an RPM pick-up which would be needed to really do an accurate graph so that you can actually pin-point the area you need to adjust on your EFI system... hmmm....

I am using a Road Dyno to log RPM, the O2 meter has a RS-232 output to log the AFR. I tested it on my daily driver and had good results.

It would be nice to combine them... need to get the car together first.

I know very little about it, but does the tec 3 have anything that will do the same as these WB sensors.

When they were developing the TEC-3, wideband O2-sensor capability was promised. But when the product shipped, this feature was quietly left off...

The TEC III has some extra analog input channels, you could take the analog output signal off the wideband system board and connect it into the TEC III to get accurate AFR values.

Beab,
You can log the output voltage from the wideband with no problem. You could then display the voltage as an overlay with rpm, injector duty cycle, boost etc.

I guess you would have to interpolate the voltage to get the A/F ratio.

Sure can...here is the chart, it is linear between AFR values of 12 through 15. Above 15 it goes expontential but that is outside the range of interest. Please note this is the Voltage/AFR curve for the system board I referenced.

As a footnote:
(BTW:This is NOT directed at anyone):
People have assuming (from personal Email) that I have some profit reason for promoting this product. I DO NOT. Matter of fact it was developed in Au and they supply all of the development knowledge in an open forum... go get it.

If you want to buy a production unit developed from this effort then go to;

just talked to lambdaboy - they seem to be on the ball. In addition to giving a wideband output, they have an ego output that works with the car's DME. Sounds like the way to go!

Yes, but what we want is a chart that draws AFR vs. RPM so we know what to adjust in our EFI system (or chip burning). I just don't see the value in datalogging without correlating the recorded lambda data to the RPM where it occurred.

I've sent the LambdaBoy guys an email on this, we'll see what their response is.

I agree, but the question was could you get AFR data and then overlay it with other data.

You can log the output voltage from the wideband with no problem. You could then display the voltage as an overlay with rpm, injector duty cycle, boost etc.

I'm not sure that it really matters for the stock DME as there is a 1x16 map for full throttle fuel and rpm. Probably take all of 10 minutes while driving the car.
