Post exhaust diagram

I'm trying to get it in my head exactly how the exhaust/turbo system is set up on the 951. Does someone have a good diagram of every pipe, header, the wastegate, turbo, etc. etc. and how it all fits together. There are a few things I just don't think I understand. Thanks!

This is the best pic I have seen posted with most of the exhaust components visible. You can see from the header it splits to the waste gate and turbo. Then from the turbo it goes to the cat and then meets up with the waste gate outlet to go to what is referred to as the cat back section which has the muffler. Basically how it works is when the waste gate opens it dumps the exhaust pressure through the waste gate bypassing the turbo.

that helps a lot, I forgot about that cool picture! I always thought that the exhaust pressure going to the turbo was secondary to the exhaust going out the back. But I guess in reality, all the pressure goes through the turbo unless the wastegate opens, letting it out. That makes the testpipe setup really logical as an upgrade.

What diameter is the pipe going from the wastegate back into the exhaust after the cat? It looks smaller than the rest.

Thanks!

Woa OZ, that's awesome! So I guess you went for the rare "invisible engine block" option on your car? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

OZ951,
Ohh Baby your the man, I'd been staring at the PET diagrams scratching my head and had pretty much figured out how the waste gate attaches in but you just cleared it all up for me.

btw does anyone have: some used headers, waste gate, wastegate pipe they're looking to sell (<a href="http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gte166n/temp/exhaust.gif" target="_blank">see pic</a>).

Talk about going the extra mile! that was very nice of you to pull that off your car to take a picture to demonstrate how the entire intake/exhaust system works for dangermile. You didn't have to do all that!!! Rennlisters are very helpful people indeed. I like it because it shows the 36-40 or so nucklebusting-ness most cantankorous hard to reach bolts on my car, -all within easy reach!!!. Very cool picture. Just try to get the air filter box intake tubing OVER the intercooler-manifold intake pipe next time would ya!!!Just kidding, very awesome.
