I think Steve Lavigne is up in that area, and he's got one of each?

It really depends on what you want to do with the car. If you want a concours car or something that will remain stock, go for the TurboS.

If you intend on upgrading, autocrossing, or track racing the car, then go for the non-S Turbo. The price differential can be as great as $10K. With that money, you can upgrade the non-S Turbo to performance levels that well exceed that of the TurboS.

Hey, where are all the NorCal guys hiding? I think in that area we've got several 951s to choose from:

Steve Lavigne - S.F.
Bill Alaimo - Gilroy
Dan Dalen - Modesto
Vince Griffith - S.F.
Steve Cooper - Santa Cruz
Ben Starkey - Santa Rosa
Ben Tsukamaki - San Jose
Efren Casamina - San Jose

I think it's time for another PIZZA RUN !!!

While I would gladly give any Rennlister a ride if possible, I can't help at this time. My 86 951 is under the knife. Repairing blown headgasket and oil leak at turbo.

It is going to be down for at least 1 more month. Maybe next time.

Norman,

I might be able to help you out if you are interested in coming down to the South Bay.
Email me at Tsukamaki@hotmail.com and we'll see if we can work something out.

Norman, My 951 is also down, but I should have it up and running as soon as I get a couple of parts from John Anderson. I just had it rebuilt by John and it looks great sitting in my engine bay, but better when moving the car along. If your in the Santa Cruz area you are welcome to come by and check out what I have done, but it will not be running for another 3-4 weeks pending on the delay. Here is what I have done to my 951:
Speed Force Racing (SFR) (STG 2) MAF
P&P Head by John Anderson, rebuilt by Huntley Racing (HR)
Fresh bottom end
Delta Wastegate
HR Fuel Pressure regulater
Fabspeed 3" exhaust (No cat)
HKS EVC 4 Boost controller
ARC2 (A/F meter)
SFR Short shift kit
17" Turbo Twist Rims
Carbon Fiber kit
Call if your interested in seeing: 831-239-6216
Thanks,
Gabe

I'm probably too far, but the ride is worth the drive..

I have a street/track suspension. Plus a health dose of extra hp.
Or, for comparison, you could try my absolutly stock version. (It's really hard to get back in the stock car after driving the gofast car)

So, who's autocrossing this year?

Danno,
You have me worried. Make sure you get that engine back to you this weekend or you'll spend the whole OTC dialing it in!

DanD, only takes me 1.5 days to put the engine back in and everything assembled. But I am worried about getting it dialed in optimally and more importantly, getting my co-driver up to speed. We've missed all our track-testing days, so I'll have to schedule a test-day at Willows. In his Mustang-GT, he's about as fast as me around the tracks, so I think I've got a secret weapon this year.. heh, heh... Although I just heard that Pat Olsen pulled a 1:33 at Willows, which is about 2-seconds faster than me...
