Post Is this DME good for an 86?

Is there a difference between 951 DME's? Which car is this one good for?

DME 951 618 121 02

Thanks!

To the best of my knowledge (don't bet on it, in other words) there were only two DME's for the 951. The early one was made for a 24 pin chip and the later one for a 28 pin chip. I forget when they made that change but I know it was before the S. I assume your number is the later one because of the "02" at the end. You can use a later box in an early car, I have one in my 86. It is chip you have to check out, as that could be either the S or non-S chip. Good luck.

this is an 86 DME
there have benn 4 (four) DMES
one for the 85 non cat car, one for the 86-87 car one for the 88+ and one for the 91 cars.

The last two have an 28 PIN.
the 85 has a 24 PIN
the 86+ can has both 24 OR 28 PIN Eprom.

So it may or may not be right for my car depending on the pins. The price is right, so I'll buy it anyway. Thanks!
