New Programmable LINK system?
I was talking to my buddy who runs a subaru WRX and he just installed a LINK(pretty sure its a LINK) system that allows him to completely program his boost, fuel maps and timing. Really cool interface display. I attached a pic below. Seeing as 944's seem to be one of the last applications to get this kind of technology, I can only hope that we see this coming out in the next couple of months. I will say though, that this looks like it may be too much adjustability.

I believe that Guru Racing is currently working on a "plug and play" Link system for the 951. It is suposed to "self learn and adjust" using the stock O2.
I hope it comes out soon, I am ready to sign up for one.

I'm sending out two units to beta-testers this week. With their feedback, I can finalize some settings. Also have to work up a conversion circuit to drive the tach, since Porsche/Bosch made that non-standard as well... <img border="0" alt="[nono]" title="" src="graemlins/nono.gif" />

Would that be using the same system that I pictured above or a totally different interface? If you don't want to give that away yet that's fiine...just curious. Is it truly self learning?

Mike S, it looks like this system is a piggy back system. See how some of the values say "ECU" I figure that means it uses the signal from the ECU w/o any alteration. I don't think a stand alone such as the guru link set up, would have a reference or another ecu. That's my best guess.

Yeah, I asked him today and he said that it is in fact a piggy back. The stock system controls everything up to a point that you choose. I really wouldn't mind that since the stock system controls warm up and idle properties very well. On the flip side of that I don't think we can use this since the barn door is a major restriction/tuning barrier. Unless of course Danno's got some crazy fix for this?

I read that you unplug your factory ecu and plug that one in, in the same spot. It comes pre programed to. They also sale those for hondas and other japanese cars.

On the newer OBD-II systems, it's not easy or cost-effective to do a complete ECU replacement. That's because you've got ABS-brakes, traction-control, climate-control, navigation, stereo, etc. all bundled in one computer. So for these cars, the Link EFI system is actually a piggyback & interceptor all in one. First it does the typical piggyback function of massaging sensor inputs like air-flow. Second, it also does ECU-output intercepting of the injector and ignition signals as well. It provides dummy resistor injector and spark-plug loads so the stock ECU THINKS it's still controlling those functions. Then the Link EFI is the one that actually controls the injectors and spark-plugs. Meanwhile, the stock ECU is still controlling all its other functions like normal and all OBD-II functions are retained.

Nope, our plug & play version of the Link-1 is a single box that plugs directly into the stock harness. We're not using the adaptor harnesses that Link has for the other cars, really kinda clumsy. It also adds a couple hundred dollars to the price.

It would be nice if the signals were compatible so you can just connect them through a break-out box like that. But we have to add extra circuitry to massage signals into what those bizarre Bosch engineers designed...

I'm somewhat confused... you are getting the Link1s with a DME and KLR plug built in to the Link's box, or are you building somesort of box around the Link that does the adaptation? Or something else?
