The M3 has a very, very nice rear diff that helps it hook-up and launch well. That accounts for its awesome times (4.6-4.8 0-60, 13.0-13.3 1/4 mile). That and the fact that it usually dyno's just over 290 rwhp on a Dynojet.

It has a slightly major flaw in that pre-December production cars have been throwing rods left and right. I have seen 2 M3's grenaded at the track within 1 week at Texas World Speedway.

Let your cousin go to roadfly.com and read about the engines, he may not be able to stomach redline shifting during your race and then you will definitely toast him!!

thanks eclou, he is always on rodfly.com so I think he knows about it. but I'll tell him anyway. I think he does, he said he wants to break in the car before he races me. (sounds like he's afraid of something? )

I just saw my cousin in his vette speed down my block, wow, he wasn't going anywhere. I think I'll be able to burn him. And about the M3 does anyone know anything about the exhaust system on the new M3. It sounds really bad! I just saw a few driving today, and one guy pulled it. The exhaust was rattling and vibrating like crazy! Anyway, He wasn't accelerating that fast either, I was surprised I thought it was going to be much faster; so I think It'll be close.

Well, the exhaust shouldn't vibrate and rattle...

It is a very raspy, very sportish, unique (IMO)exhaust note.

If the exhaust was vibrating and rattling maybe his clutch was slipping...

Talking about the M3 vs 951 comparison, I raced against a nice looking black 333 hp M3 tonight. Running at about 16 PSI, we stayed even from 0 to 100 or 110 mph. I couldn't believe my eyes, because over 60 mph it's not a matter of driver skills anymore and he couldn't pull on me. I would even say that I pulled 1 or 2 meters on him. The guy even complimented about the "small Porsche" as he called it.

Props to the 15 years old 951!
Ho... And I know that my english sucks.

Wow. That's awesome yan! this is going to be a great race! I'm running the same boost as you are. did the M3 have the smg II transmission? because my cousin is getting that. and about the exhaust. Every single M3 has a vibrating exhaust. I asked around. they don't know where the vibrating is coming from. Many guys change the muffler right when they get it. It's a little less, but still noticeable. They have changed the entire exhaust up to the header and you can still hear it. Anyway, I'll tell you how it goes.

The stock M3 (E46) exhaust note sounds like a Saw-zall ripping thru aluminum sheets. It's very annoying to me. Even switching them does not seem to eliminate the effect.

eclou, I agree, I hope they find a way to get rod of the noise. or else, I don't think the M3 will get too popular in terms of sound. I want to see when the superchargers come out for that car. My cousin says he's going to buy it right when it comes out. 10k for a supercharger kit sounds pretty high but, you never know, it could go down.

Nik, everything is stock except what you see in my sig. stock injectors. stock FP. I have a k26,
It's really fast. i can't imagine how fast my car can be with the big stuff.

Silver: Ok, I see! So you even have the stock wastegate on, is it modified? If not then I'm impressed! Do you manage to hold 16 psi of boost in the entire rpm or does the boost drop?

SILVER,

I raced an M3 last night. Not sure about the E46, or what ever, but it was a newer model M3

He had a car length on me at the light before we even got through he intersection, but I styed with it and caught up in 2nd and stayed even, and then pulled away in 3rd and then he pulled out.

Nik, I haven't touched the stock WG, and I am able to hold it to redline. I thyink I can put it up even more, but i wont. Todd. I also raced a car, a fast one! This thing was a beast. It was a turbo'd civic. I know, it may sound slow, but this thing was an animal! When we started he was a carlength ahead, in second i cought up to his rear wheel, Third, my door was even with the front of his car. fourth, I was able to pass him, and get in his lane, We pulled up to 115 mph, before we stopped, he was up my tail the whole time I was in front. I was impressed. I knew it was turbo, because I heard the BOV and i saw the Front mount IC in his bumber. I wish I had a camera, but I will when the M3 race goes on!
