Actually (splitting hairs) the stock eccentrics are 951 341 431 01 and the current replacements from Porsche are 951 341 431 03. Fully machined - no cast/forged surfaces. The 951 341 431 02 part became available about 2001 or later, not sure when the 951 341 431 03 part was released. Can post photos if you like.

Cheers,
Mike

I saw the new ones were the 03 version. Mine are a few years old, modified to use a monoball instead of the rubber based mount. They are forged, and seem to be bullet-proof (in the words of small block Chevy builders). Likely someone would have to have NOS to supply the original instead of one of the 968 versions. But, seems we agree on the most important point: the new style with serrations is better at holding the caster setting, which is fairly "useful" on the track!

Thanks!

LOL!! Actually, my son never worked at their shop, but PowderTech Plus is still there--they coated the bare tub of my car after my cage was installed. Give Richard or Dawn a call (904-269-1719) and they can help you out.

Thanks J.A. I must have misread in that other thread. Yep! Wachula sux! I played a H.S. playoff game there 25 years ago.

The Turbo S M030 castor block does have a -30 part number, which the -30 series suffix may indicate it came from the motorsports department and was developed for the Cup cars (many of the unique motorsport suspension parts on the cups had -3x part numbers). But, although a harder durometer than the stock piece, its still a big chunk of rubber. Most agree that the 968 part is a superior design and have replaced original blocks w/ the 968 part, including turbo S/M030 cars.

If your original M030 rubber blocks are in good condition, leave them on. If the rubber is starting to tear they need to be replaced. Since you already have the 968 blocks, put those on. And I think the M030 blocks are quite a bit more expensive than the 968 blocks.
Well, anyone want to buy some -30 castor blocks? The rubber looks to be in fine shape. Although, I may keep them in case a future owner wants to make it fully original again for some reason. Car only has 45k miles on it.

Interesting that the new pieces are (appear to be) billet. I've always regarded a machined forging as a better alternative to machining a block of steel, thinking of overall strength, especially in an "eccentric" bolt like this piece is. I wonder if, when the factory ran out of parts, they found it cheaper to commision a run of CNC machined pieces than to make a forging run again. Just something to ponder!

Oh, and my eccentrics came to me through Kelly Moss Racing, probably in 1996, and they are forged with serrations and appear identical to the pieces on Jason Burkett's car (the number 4 RS). I haven't asked, but these probably were factory pieces arising from KMR's successful involvement in the Firehawk racing series of that era (with 944S2's).
