Default Here at Texas mile

I ended up going today. I didn't think I was. But I'm here right now. No 3g connection, but the phones are still working fine.

I saw a red 951 parked. A red 928 ran, but it was blowing smoke before the finish and only ran 150. I did not bring a car to drive. Its a nice day. Cool breeze. I will post a few pics up later.

Just got back to the hotel after being there. Saw a couple of 944/951's in the parking lot, lots of 911's running. The 928 is a member here and his Provent was installed wrong so it was venting oil from the crankcase all over the place.

Going back tomorrow, we'll be hanging out at the Team 928 tent.

Dang Bruce! Wish I would have known you were there. I was there from 10:30-5. Met 2Bridges and saw his Z06 hit 178mph. Real nice guy.

The parked red 951 was mine.

Unrelated to 944 but a local tuning company in houston, late model racecraft (lmr), was supposed to run an 1800+ rwhp. 02 camaro. Any info on how it did?

Very cool. That's a scary-looking 928 engine bay, looks like something out of Star Wars or NASA.

I'd quite like to do one of these Texas Mile runs some day, preferably before and after my turbo project.

the camaro was there but up on a stand with oil all over the place so not quite sure what happened to it. But the two turbos in it were bigger than my head!

Some pics from my less than stellar iPhone camera which wasn't good enough for any action shots. The Vette engine with the Procharger is 2Bridges' Z06.

The Hennsesey Ford GT did over 220mph and the owner said he was still accelerating at the mile mark; also said he put down 1020 HP at the wheels; and, yes, he did have a mullet.

Lots of bikes running between 195-200mph. Lots of cool cars there, plus some ordinary off the street rides. A Nissan Quest family van did 117mph, and a Ford Fiesta did 102mph.

Bruce and Sean - sorry I missed you there.

I'll definitely be back for the next, and will be running something too.

Engine shot of it above. I think I saw it run while I was getting in my car and leaving, but couldn't quite make out on the PA what it ran. I want to say 216mph, but don't quote me.

Fastest I saw while I was there was a Supra that did 228mph.

Actually TX951 i was the guy that walked around you while you were in your car. The sun shield was in it so i didn't expect anyone to be in it. Was going to say hi but you looked busy. The fastest i saw was the 1800 viper do 239 as i was about to leave.

A few of our DR guys are down there.

Kelly Bise(LMR camaro) went 215 with a slipping clutch. It had another problem on the 218 run I don't know the story. RC sold his vette and the new owner(joe) was down there and it did 224. Joe with the GT(you guys took a picture of it above) went 219.9. A few other notables down there but, I have no connection to them(art viper) went 240. Sam is down there with a few customer cars running in the 190 range. Hinson vette wrecked no doubt the drag radials will be outlawed for the may event and future events.

I didn't have a sun shield in mine. I guess there were two red 951s ! I didn't see the other.

Was it parked on the street just after the entrance? They parked us there at first but then moved us into the lot area. I was "busy" slathering on sunscreen too.

As I was walking in with my Dad, who met me there, and one of th first cars I saw had drag slicks, I said that guy is crazy.

I remember driving to the track back in my 1/4 mile days with drag DOTs and the feeling of how they would squirm around on the highway. I can't imagine what it's like at mile speeds.

Jeremy (2Bridges) and I were discussing the craziness of it too.

From what I read on another car forum, the LMR vette and camaro were having tires issues among other things, and the former RC vette supposedly spun the main bearing after the run.
