Tires Spinning Problem
If I give my 951 too much gas in first, second, or third my tires spin uncontrollably. <img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />
Any suggestions on how to resolve? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

No I don't.
I always wondered why I might need that.
I guess now I know.
It's kind of funny really. So much power that you can't keep the wheels on the road.

at stock boost the non-limited slip cars are traction limited at elevated levels first gear is uselss...
Hopefully in a few months I'll have an LSD on the car and will finaly be able to launch it out of corners....

I think 16 PSI in first will just get you traction with 275's and LSD. 18 PSI won't and second and third are iffy.
Here's a few things to consider:
1. Tire Compound - a softer comound will be more sticky and resist wheel spin
2. Temperature - cold temps = wheel spin because it's easier for the tires to break adhesion with the road. I run 15 PSI and I can get wheelspin in first and even second on dry pavement with LSD.
3. Tire Pressure - less PSI = more tire touching the ground - more traction. Don't deflate them too much though....it's not good for radial tires.
4. Tire size - obviously, big honkin drag slicks will have better gip
I personally love the spin in first because anyone beside you just freaks when your tires snap loose at a couple mph and you go a little sideways.... not too much though!
But if your getting spin in second and third - you need more traction. But not too much though because you could break something in the drivetrain.

I'm actually getting a real kick out of it. Passengers can't believe it when it happens in second and third.
Thanks for the input on how I can combat it...if I ever grow tired of it.

W/ a k27, MAP, and 17 PSI of boost (where I'm going to try and run it) traction with the open diff would be miserable.

Same problem here every winter. High-performance tires (in my case Bridgestone S-03's) just don't grip well in the cold. One solution would be to use an all-season tire for the cold weather, or even snow tires! Personally I don't drive my 951 enough in the winter to justify that, however.

Ian-
That's actually the configuration I'm running at 18 psi. I also have a Tial 46mm wastegate.
I drive it all of the time...unless there is snow on the ground. Cold does affect the traction.

LSD came stock on my '89 951. I'm glad I have it, and I must say wheelspin really isn't a problem except in first gear. Even then, I have to be trying to break traction, unless the roads are wet. When really giving it on the track, I have to baby the throttle on corner exits in second or third, but by no means is it difficult to control. And this with a car which with all my latest mods is pushing about 340rwhp.

Yo guys; we are spinning wheels even with fifth gear..
Well we have snow and ice here in Finland..
The other day I was driving something like 70 mph,
hit the gas with fifth, and suddenly I had plenty to do in the cockpit <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
And I do have LSD..

Take it to BodyMotion for your next rebuild. The problem should only last a few hours !!!!!!!!!!!!
