Good mechanic in Dallas?
Can anyone suggest a good mechanic in the Dallas area? I know about the Porsche Store but would like to have an alternative.

If you are willing to make the trip to Ft Worth, Don Istook has a shop on 7th street. He has been racing 924s and 944s for over 20 years I believe and is now also doing race work on Audis. My father has taken both his 944 and 968 to him for about 6 years now and is very happy with the service. He also works on our Mercedes.

And I'll third. HE's where I take my "'44 turbo" as he would say, and I am very pleased every time I get my car back, along with the price. He is very reasonable and doesn't quote enormous amounts of hours to do a simple job. When my a/c system was shot and needed to be flushed and have the compressor, exp valve, and drier replaced, I got him a compressor (used) and he had it done by the end of the day. Very good guy.

If you want to see just how respected he is in the Audi world.. go to www.audiworld.com and search the forums for "Istook" and you'll see
