993TT hollow-spoke wheels w/ H&R spacers
I just picked up a set of 4 16"x9 factory 993TT hollow-spoke alloy wheels w/ H&R TRAK alloy spacers (thinking about 245/45 A032Rs all around) for my '88 944 Turbo S. Three questions:
1) Anyone with a Turbo S have track experience with the 16" 993TT hollow-spokes? Are they just as strong and just as light as the stock 16" forged wheels?
2) Can I leave the H&R spacers on the car when I put on my 17" (7s & 9s) C4 wheels?
3) I've been told that for those wheels the best track setup is to have same size all around (for rotating, though I think I can only go front to back with AO32Rs?), so is the best tire setup really 245/45s all around? I don't want to do Hoosiers or the like at this point due to my experience level and wet weather in the PacNW.
Thanks for your help.

Sorry for confusion...my bad. Turns out the 16" wheels I'm in the process of looking at are not 993 Turbo wheels, but rather 993 C2 Cup wheels. Still some question as to whether or not they are hollow-spoked since they have somewhat of a ridged, hollowed-out backside.

Also, you shouldn't need spacers that I am aware of. Your car has the late offset, and newer wheels should be the same offset. The 16" wheels your looking at and the 17" wheels should both fit without any spacers.

I don't know what those are called, but they aren't the normal C2 cups (they are off boxsters). I can't think of any hollow spoke 16" OEM wheels offhand, but I could be wrong.
You shouldn't need any spacers going from a 993 wheel to your '89.
This is a C2 Cup wheel: <a href="http://www.wheelenhancement.com/C2Turbo.htm" target="_blank">http://www.wheelenhancement.com/C2Turbo.htm</a> But they don't come in 16"
and this is the only 16" wheel the C2 had (I think):
<a href="http://www.wheelenhancement.com/c25spoke.htm" target="_blank">http://www.wheelenhancement.com/c25spoke.htm</a>
Those are also common on the 968s, and the wheels I have are essentially a copy (non-OEM) of that style, but 17", you can see them in my profile.
Hope that helps.
In the end, any wheel that fit a 993 should fit your car with no spacers needed.

Thanks all for the help. They are definitely 993 wheels since the serial number is 993.___.___.___
This is the closest good pic I could find on the web...the spokes are concave on the outside and mostly concave on the inside as well (which made me think they would be classified as "hollow"):

Those very well might be the 993 rear wheels with 70mm offset, very bizarre. A lot of people went for the 17" upgrade just so the rear wheel wouldn't be sticking 1" deeper into the wheel wells.
Fonck, what's the rest of the part#? And the offset? It should be near the part# with something like "ETxxx".
If those indeed are 70mm, you'll need some thin 10mm spacers.

Danno - you are correct. The wheels are 993 16"x9 with 70mm offsets each. They fit very nicely on the front without spacers (and are much lighter than my 17" C4 wheels) but the rears do require spacers for which I have H&R TRAK race alloy bolt on spacers to bring the rears out to the fenders...looks pretty cool--especially with 245/45s all around. Should drive nicely on the track from what I understand, and give the RPMs/boost and earlier chance to spool up.

Do you have coilovers in front? Those wheels with 70mm offset would put about 1/2" more rim on the outside and 1" more on the inside compared to stock. Your tire must be getting awfully close to the struts...
Please post some pictures with those wheels on your car!
