checking brakes and parking brake
I jacked up the back of my car today for the first time since I got it.
Without the parking brake on, the back wheel does not turn freely. It is turnable by hand, but it clearly has some contact with the brake pads or something. Is this normal for these cars?
Also, I'm trying to figure out why my parking brake doesnt work. I was reading the manual and it says stick a screwdriver throught the hole in the disk brake and turn the adjusting device.
Where is the adjusting device (at the top?)
Its quite hard to see in there.

Alright, so I just yanked the calipers and the disc. Are there supposed to be rubber covers or something on the parking brake shoes?
It seems its just hot metal on metal action.
One shoe does move out when the parking brake is pulled, so I'm thinking it's either missing some cover, or its just not adjusted.
Could the cable to the other wheel be broken?
Would this effect this wheel?

Ok, so i finally found a picture of a good parking brake shoe, and clearly theres supposed to be rubber on them.
But my other worry, shouldnt the tire turn free when in the air? It clearly makes some contact with the pads. Granted, its not a ton, but some.

That may explain why the back wheels are not as easy to turn as the front wheels.
Just my 2¢.
