I have a ReliaBoost 1 on my 88 . I used to have the LBE. The ReliaB has steel internals and is adjustable inline which means that you do not have to disconnect hoses. Also it is less than half the cost of the LBE.
Just my 2cents.

I'm not a fan of the LBE, not much bang for the buck. I say stick with the proven brands. The Hallman MBC has been around for years and keeps getting better and better. I've got a Hallman ES on my Volvo. Check them out on http://www.boostcontroller.com

Another technical difference: the Reliaboost has a small bleed hole to drain built up pressure while the LBE does not. Its function is to reduce boost spikes.

Hallman also has the bleed hole. The hallman has been a turbo import drag racer favorite for years. I just looked at the boostscience website. It looks like it has the same features. You really can't go wrong with either.

I've been using an lbe for a year with no problems. I'm not sure what difference "steel" internals would make. Lots of things that work well aren't made out of steel.
