BBS has been cracking down on the knock off market as best as they can, that may account for the dwindling down in availabilty. I wouldn't sacrifice quality for the look.

Funny you should say that because knockoffs certainly don't help any company though I think their filling was more reorganizing than anything...especially with the sale of the OEM plant to Ronal which its delay reportedly caused the funding issues. I can tell you shipments haven't ceased and new styles are out so I think the aftermarket and motorsports division will survive. If you really think about it BBS wheels aren't all that expensive when you compare them to other high end manufacturers.
