Looks freaky and scary Andrew. Christchurch and surrounding townships are a beautiful part of the world. Sumner especially. Sorry to see this happen indeed....and so soon after the last one. They say that it can be an aftershock months apart?

So sorry to hear what's going on down there. I've watched the local news and they have said the US has sent rescue crews to help. I hope this is true. Take care and help those less fortunate.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

They are saying its a new fault line. We have international rescue teams from the USA, Japan, Taiwan, and Aussie today. Thank you everyone for your support. I feel for the many visitors to the city especially.

75 now confirmed dead, hundreds more missing.

Sumner was hammered by the cliff rocks

That large hotel will have to be brought down if it doesn't fall. The whole situation looks hellish.
The Mayor is coming across very well as a balanced person amid the chaos.
Best wishes for the endurance.

The city and people are changed forever. My friend has a female friend from there and when he spoke to her he said she sounded shell shocked. That does not go away quickly. Her House "sank" and they don't know what to do now.

I wish you all the best.

This has been getting a lot of coverage here in the States. I heard it happened on a previously unknown fault line. That makes it even worse. Maybe they will look at revising building codes etc. like California.

We wish you all the best in your rescue efforts. These events often bring out the best in people.
