Red section on Speedometer between 40-50km/hr
Anyone have any clue as to what this red marking on the speedo indicates? Nothing in the manual mentions it. The tach red mark is obvious, but what's this for?
I'm dying of curiosity!!!! <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />

Could that be about redline rpm in 1st?
45 kph comes out to 28mph...maybe thats "optimal" shift point or something? I dont think its fast enough to be redline...although I never really looked it up.

If the marking was between 50 and 60, then yes, it's to remind you that you're in the "red" zone for speeding tickets on city streets in Germany -- the speed limit is generally 50 km/h (35 mph). Our Benzes had this, too.
If its between 40 and 50, though, or if it isn't a 10 km/h band, then it probably means something else.
