Default Auto tensioner reassembly

Got the cam tower back on and am starting on the belts. I took off the auto tensioner to aid in the process. Any tips or methods to get the damn thing back on?

Did you lock it in the untensioned/opened (belt wise) position when you took it off? If not, before you put the belt on, slide it back on the studs, use the balance shaft tool (there are holes in the tensioner made for the wrench), then push the tensioner out to full open position, tighten the nuts down. Take it off, route the belt, put on the tensioner, line things up, and release the nuts to apply tension to the belt.

I might have misunderstood, do you mean the hydraulic tensioner or the spring tensioner? If it is the hydraulic tensioner, put it in a vise and stick a pin in the hole to keep it retracted, install everything, then pull the pin out.
