Default Cold air intake / cone filter location pics request

I'm looking for pictures of cone filters inside the fender but in proven positions that will not suck up water.

Here is a picture with the plastic not attached. We added some webbing on the inner fender to make it water resistant. This intake is where the factory intake is located, just much larger.

Can also run a fine screen mesh filter on the MAF for more room instead of a cone.

How much power are you running that you need that much air?

Our calculations show around 800CFM at 6500 rpm. These filters are rated at around 1100cfm when clean and new. These filters filter better when dirty, and K&N recommends cleaning every 40K or no more than 25 times during their life span.

We wanted to allow for some decrease in CFM when dirty, hence the triple setup. I also wanted the intake out of the HOT engine bay.

Holy s**tballs batman! Overkill is an understatement.

Did you flowbench the setup? Since the collector is not radiused, I think the 3 filters probably hurt airflow more than anything else especially at higher velocities when laminar flow becomes more important. 800cfm calculated @ 6500rpm so you decided to go for 3300cfm instead?

Although looking at where those filters are positioned, you will probably never, ever want to change them again. So maybe it is a good idea.

Thanks for your post. We know what we are doing. The CFM of the three filters as new is around 1100cfm, not 3300. This intake resides behind the factory plastic inner fender with proper venting. To service: You remove the front wheel, open the hood, loosen the nut on the compression band, pull the plastic back on the inner fender, and remove the entire intake. There is a connector at the fender with easy access in the engine bay.

We wouldn't design something that wasn't deemed important or hard to service.

Lets get back OT and show some more pictures of intakes residing out of the engine bay.

It is in the final phases of transformation. When on boost in high gears, it does want to fly. I pray it never eats anyone.

My bad. I had the impression you meant 1100cfm per filter. Not saying you don't know what you're doing. Just looks badass. If you have access to one, it would be interesting to flow the whole thing and see the effect of progressively blocking off each of the side filters though. Now back to the original topic..

It won't.

With a cone filter you would have to drive into deep water or have the filter placed down close to the ground to have a chance of getting enough water sucked in to cause damage and/or hydro lock.

Worst case you will get some water mist into the filter.

Mine tried to eat a rabbit, problem was it couldn't unhinge it's lower jaw enough to get it down.
