Default clutch balance question

If i were to buy a fidanza flywheel (that is pre-balanced from them) and also a new pressure plate (that is pre-balanced as well) would I have to get them both balanced together?

clutch disc shouldn't matter (brand or size) or have any effect on the balance, should it?

All I know is that the Flywheel and Pressure Plate should be balanced together, marked and installed as marked.

Cheers,

Don't believe Fidanza when they say they balance them. Get them balanced locally before you put them on.

A couple of thoughts –
1) You can balance the flywheel and pressure plate together – but it does not cost much more, if any, to get the balanced separately – then you can change one later without have to rebalancing both. You also don’t have to worry about matching the two in the correct orientation.
2) You HAVE to balance the Fidanza Flywheel – I have installed enough of them to know it is important! Make sure the trigger studs are in place, they will change the balance.
3) You can check the disk balance – if it is not balanced I would start to wonder about the build quality!
4) and lastly – Fidanza does not have any 951 flywheels in stock – I need some so I am going to have to pay for a minimum ‘batch’ to get some made…..anybody interested in a group discount??!?

yes, sign me up for the flywheel.

thanks Chris, some good info there. The #1 is my answer, not really about any brand but if the flywheel was balanced and the PP was balanced, they would be fine and not need balancing when together. just the answer i was looking for.

now to find a place that does balance work like that. Maybe I'll ask my local machine shop if they do or know someone that does.

No they don't have to be balanced together.

And an ABSOLUTE YES... you should have the flywheel balanced no matter what you are told.

I have seen MANY brand new Fidenza flywheels that were supposed to be balanced.... but which were not. Which required the owner to have to rip the whole car apart again to get to the flywheel.

The $40 bucks it costs to balance the flywheel will be the best $40 insurance you can buy.
