Default airbag reconnect question.

Diddnt see the answer for this question so I have to ask.My 87 944 turbo airbag is disconnected, the plug is on the right side of the motor next to the ac high pressure line,it is just laying there. What is the safest way to reconnect the plug? my tech said to unplug the negative battery terminal and just plug it back in the module what say you? thanks.

Just plug it back in you will be fine....IF you would like to feel VERY safe then disconnect BOTH battery cables and wait 5 mins for the system to fully discharge. Then reconnect the Airbag.
I have NEVER seen or had an airbag deploy on my from connecting/disconnecting it.....
Good luck.

well of course plugging it in would be too easy. When I popped the dustlid up I noticed no socket to plug into, apparantly the dealer cut the two wires and bent them in to the loom, there is just a flip top with a hole clamp and no socket present. What part do I need to fix this.I think the paperwork stated this was done by the dealer in 1987 with only 2k miles on the car.I remember back then when airbags first came on the scene, and this year 951 was the first car in the US to bring 2 of them standard for both driver and passenger, folks where scared they would go off accidentally and kill the occupants. If you go back in time a few hundred years ago the world was flat as well.Anyways if you can help me out id appreciate it,I want the airbag light and warning light to go off and the bags connected.

That was a a BIG problem with these cars back in the day!!! Some people have taken a stock 944/951 to the track and have had the airbag gone OFF!!!
I have some diodes that I need to find the wiring diagram and let you know how the turn off the Airbag Light.
