Default Gauge install question (below radio)

I bought the LR gauge panel (two gauges and boost control). I did a test fit yesterday and there is some interference behind the gauge panel when installed flush on the panel. Due to the shape of the cubby as well as the depth of the gauges this is gonna be a tight fit!

Question: are you guys typically cutting the cubby in order to fit your gauges/wiring/boost hoses, etc. ?

It looks like I'll need all the space I can manage. When I transfer the MBC it looks like I'll plan to use some 90 degree fittings for the vacuum/boost lines.

Heck I've been running my boost gauge just wedged in there and was happy with that. However I just bought a WBo2 kit and wish to move the boost control inside as well.

Thanks!

mine was tight with all my stereo wires and mbc. I only had to sand the inside of the gauge goles so the gauges would fit.

yeah I cleaned up the gauges and they fit nice and snug in the panel. However when installing in the cubby there is interference with the gauges themselves (less when I swapped the boost with the AFR gauge).

You did take the actual cubby out right?

You dont put the panel on over the cubby piece.

now THAT is what I was looking for...no, and yes that's what I'll do.

I didn't realize everyone was taking the whole cubby out. It isn't molded in?? I assumed I was going to have to cut it out.

Thanks!

No you should be able to pull it out.

Looks like this when you do.

Good Luck

Oh and there should be two small holes, one on either side of the panel, you should see where they screw in when you pull the cubby out.

yea, you need to take the cubby out in order to get enough room. it also keeps your cubby free of drill holes, and saves weight! haha

easiest way to remove the cubby (once you get the bezel with the roof switch unscrewed) is to stick your hand right in the cubby, try to get a grasp on the inside, then pull out. The cubby itself is in there just with a little friction clip.
