You will notice (hear) the compressor hitting the housing before you will hear it being out of ballance... not to mention the amount of oil it will be spewing!

What is the noise you are hearing, and why do you think it is your turbo?

Like a car with a bunch of bent fins on the turbo, just replace yours with the k27 you already have and get a chip to match.

Like a grinding sound, but only for a little while.

I replaced the axles and it still makes that marbles noise when I get on it. You can feel something moving or hitting something. Under the floor. I know that my turbo is not mounted securely with a bolt. I'm not sure what the hell it is.

I thought it was my axles making the crunching type noise. Something like that. When I go WOT the car sounds fine until I get to the end of second gear and shift to third and it comes back. Someone mentioned that its possible since my turbo is brain damaged that it could be causeing my problem. I'm going to be replacing it soon.

If I don't drive the car hard then it doesn't do it at all.

Don't drive your car hard.

Problem solved!

"Hey Doc, it hurts when I move my arm like this..."
"Dont move your arm like that"
"Thanks Doc, feels better already!"

BTW, from what you are describing, sounds like maybe a torque tube bearing.

Did anyone else catch that the turbo is not bolted down? How much oil is it spewing???? I am assuming you are still refering to the damaged fins or is the exhaust loose to it? If the turbo is not bolted down you have many other problems as the mount also acts as an oil return.

We caught it, but were ignoring it... But then his turbo is brain damaged, so that may explain something...

I am having a mechanic check out the car soon enough. The turbo will be replaced with a rebuilt unit and the motor mounts will be changed.

Oil is not spewing out. I'm not sure what bolt is actually missing, but I do know that when i had a guy look over the car before he mentioned that.

Someone said the possibility that the damaged fins might have made the turbo out of balance. causing this noise to happen.

If your turbo has damaged impeller blades on the compressor of the turbo, DO NOT BE DRIVING THE CAR..

I bet he was making reference to the lower crossover bolt.. Because he couldn't see the head of it... but I could be wrong..

Get the car to a competent mechanic in short order..

Driving with a damaged turbo = totally destroyed engione and complete rebuild, probably with a different block.

If you've had enough contact to shear compressor blades, you have very nasty stuff in the engine. The turbo will be the least of your problems.
