Yes probably heading that way. Non-itb is not that much trouble really if you can find a good fabricator, hypertune quoted me around half that if I remember, and they are at the expensive end of things.

So that's $5k for a fixed intake vs ITBs?? How can they quote that without testing it on your motor etc...?
As some of you might have read in the link that Duke posted, it seems that very small changes can make a difference. So how does someone like Hypertune justify their expenses?

Yes I know it's not on a Porsche motor but much of this would be transferable physics, no?

The Evo manifolds are only around 2K, and if I recall they are at the top in that test of intakes. The Hypertune guys know what they are doing, and they well presented.

I'm sure they're good at what they do. I just wondered what they were offering you in your case Rod. I'm just trying to figure out what decent alternatives are out there for our motors.

Also, wasn't there some conjecture re ITBs and turbo cars? Can't remember what the exception was but just have someone's objection lodged in my brain.

Extrudabody seems to offer all the services needed to fabricate a custom intake for our cars for a very competitive price. Since the intake port/head spacing is the same for all 8V 944s that may make it a more attractive product for them to produce.

Thanks for that. So did Extrudeabody supply/build the whole thing or just the ITBs ? Can you give an indication of price?

Extrudabody supplied the ITB's and the fuel rail.

We made the intake. We just used a stock 968 manifold. We cut it with a band saw, milled it flat and then tigged the flanges to it. A friend did the rest of the fab work on the aluminium intake.

Extrudabody is based in Florida. Kevin is the owner and is very helpful.
He has owned a couple of 944's and was very interested in our project. He even came to the shop and made sure we had everything adjusted properly (very simple).
He even came up with the idea of using the cruise control cable for the throttle cable. It works great, and pulls very smooth, and was free!

I will have to look back to see , but I think the cost of the ITB`s and the fuel rail with all the fittings was less than $1500 !

I think quality of his product is great. And the customer service is even better.

I would be glad to help as well.

Thanks for your input.

Did you use a vacuum manifold to massage the MAP signal from the runners?

Kevin and I had talked about making up some manifolds for the 8v heads.
If there is enough interest , I could get with him on some "944 kit" pricing.

@ Thom Yes , there is a vac port on each ITB that then feed to a main reservoir. The ports or on the head side of the butterflies, and the map sensor is on the side of the sheet metal intake.

Thanks a heap for the input. Great to feel like there is an alternative to the stock intake for our motors.
Was the intake flowed by any chance?
