tried to do a search on this but i dont know if im just not typing in the right words or if there just isnt much on it.
the hood just wont snap in. it used to just take a few tries and it would finally go in. but now it just takes forever and i dont know if it will even click.
anyone have any tips or tricks to fix this?

FWIW, I ALWAYS lower the hood to about 4-5 inches open, and drop it, latches every time on both my 944s... my 951 has signs of previous owner (hood was poorly adjusted when I got the car) pushing it closed, resulting in slight dents on the hood just above the latch area..

Funny, I have brand new struts on both cars and no issues... lube the latch with some white lithium, and gvie it a go again... the struts should be almost fully compressed by 5 inches.

Shut the hood so that the pin (with spring) is just touching the latch mechanism. Take a flashlight and make sure that the pin is centered in the hole. If not, loosen the two bolts and adjust...
The real problem is more likely that you left a screwdriver under the hood or something, though

Edit temptation is strong with this one...

I have dents from trying to be gentle earlier in ownership ... little did I know that pushing it closed was actually worse than just dropping it.

Yeah, when I got my 951 the hood was very poorly fit, I noticed you had to push on the hood to get it to close, and found myself pushing right where the dents are..
A little bit of effort to reallign the hood hinge plates and latch, and a short drop is all that is required to close...

Hey Llamagod, have you tried the slam technique yet? Hell, don't bother with all that ninny 4-5 inch drop stuff...
The key is, you wanna get your FEET 4-5 inches from the ground on the jump. Arms should be fully extended above your head. Then follow this by a full power stroke in one full-bodied motion on the way down, and that should do it!
The more friends you have to help with this, the better!
In fact, I personally call this technique the 'widow maker'. Can't seem to remember why though...
