Don't forget it's not only the ZDDP content that you need to be concerned with (and why Mobil has suddenly started adding it back in after taking it out and not telling anyone), it's also the detergent levels in the oil. You need to look at the whole package in total to make a balanced decision.

I think the key here is you run 15/50. Light on start up in the cold but still heavy when running it hard.

Even in winter our cars, I think, still need the heavy weight. As long as we run a low start up visc. then we are ok. I've even seen 5/50 as well for those in super cold start up areas.

Hey, Todd. How have you been? I have been using VR1 20w50 for the last 4 years along with a good filter. I have only put about 4k on the car in that time, but, as you know, I have run the car hard a time or two and it has been perfect with no issues whatsoever.

Hey! yea, it has been a while. You still in Orlando? I'm in the DC area now actually but plan to be back in a couple of years either Orlando or out by Patrick AFB.

Ok. You think the limited driving might be one reason why you see no issues?

Cheers Mate!!!

Yea, I guess I didn't notice all the gaps. lol

That was just some moisture in the exhaust.

We are in the DC area for a few years and hope to be back in Central FL in the next couple of years.

I use VR1 20-50 non syn and have a catch can. I also have a vented 931 hood. The catch can sits right below the vent/scoop. I can always smell oil. My only issue with the VR1 is on cold days it cranks over really slow. Once its warm no problems.
