What suspension are you running-spring rates? Car looks very low. Perhaps a bit of an optical illusion, but do you get any wheel rub? See you've got a cage. Is the car lightened in any way? Looks like normal interior.

Great looking car, but I really think 19" wheels are too large! Just IMHO.

I usually HATE the claws.....but damn, they look good on these cars.

I agree with the one poster though. You definitely need some spacers to get the stagger right

I realize this post is old and dead but please tell me if these are the 19x11 lobster claws in the back and what size tires you are running. Also did you end up having to run any spacers? I have a 85.5 944 and want to do what you did with these, they look great!

Party pooper here, sorry. Seems like a cool thing to do until you get into the details. Three problems: cost, weight, and safety.

On an early-offset car, these wheels would require enormous spacers to mount them correctly. This means using bolt-on hub-centric spacers (with their own separate studs). These will probably cost you just as much as the wheel set (assuming you get the set really cheap, like < $400).

Spacers like these will add a lot of unsprung weight to each wheel. That's a true bolt-on performance downgrade.

Upgrading to 19" wheels technically requires you to change the eccentric bolts and caster blocks on the rear mounting point of each of the front a-arms to later, stronger versions of these components. Most people won't bother, but either way you look at it you're paying for upgraded suspension parts or accepting a known risk.

Thanks for the info jmj951. I was under the impression that I would need something like a 21-28mm spacer in the front and 0-7mm spacer I the rear to make it work. I would also like to add that this is not track car. I stole the 944 for less than $1000 and the rims were fully polished with decent tires for $300 so if there is a way to make them work I would like to try. Maybe I should start a new thread with my results, although I doubt it will be very well received. I am gathering most people think 19's are just too big.

I was looking at some caymans the other day saw the claws and thought what was Porsche thinking when they came up with that design. Now I see this and I'm thinking I need to start looking for a set for the 951. Weird how that works.

The rear spacers will need to be slightly bigger than the fronts, but regardless, it's doable. Do you have a local shop that would let you experiment with different size spacers? I think that's the way to go in this case.

Look fine. Question: What are your goals? Good looks or wheel/tire combination that allows your ride to perform are vastly different. I'm not a fan of spacers. Lightest wheel/tire combination towards traction is my thing with all motorsports.

With that said, I've attached my old school wheel/modern tire of choice for MY car. Fikse 17" with good rubber.

Great looking wheels on your car. Need to add some spacers/weight to allow proper tire to fender clearance/suspension setup to work as well as they look.

Ok so I think I figured this out. Rc1e must have two sets of front wheels and is not running a 19x11 in the rear. Having just figured out how to get them to work I can tell you they do not look like that! My wheel wells are completely filled to the max, completely flush to the fender. I had to grind off excess bolt from some of the suspension bolts, "massage" in the inner fenders and have the alignment and spacers just perfect for them to fit and not have to roll the fenders. It is down to millimeters when running a 295/30zr19 on a 944. But it can be done. I'll post pics in another thread someday soon.

Or maybe there is a different set of lobster claws from a different year that is only a 19x10 or something. I wish r1ce would chime in and solve this riddle for me.
