30mm front sway bar art pics
Thought you guys might enjoy these pics Supposedly this is a turbo cup front sway bar but it is identical to the 968 M030 bar. I have a 21mm rear adjustable sway that is also supposed to be factory turbo cup equipment and is a little bigger than the 968 19mm rear M030 sway bar.

The Cup rear bars are the 21mm 3-way adjustable bar. The adjustable ends are noticeably beefier than the 19mm 968 bar. They are also noticeably stiffer than the 19mm bar. When still available, up to about 12 years ago, they were over $500 from Porsche motorsport.
I have seen bars pop out of the drop links on track cars, but usually there were some other problems, worn out bushings, something bent, etc.

Beautiful front sway bar set up. Like you said, it looks exactly like the 968 M030 parts I put on my 951.
Good observation. The stock mounts took quite some effort to clamp down over the 19mm rear bar and bushings from the 968 M030 and fit very snugly. Probably wouldn't have worked if the bar had been 21mm.

Thanks Jim for the background on the turbo cup sways - very interesting to know.
Had a buddy point out that I could have made a face out of that first pic Maybe I'll try when I get home - would have sort of a South American Indian look to it I think! Perhaps the art world would appreciate the human reference from the cold hard steel parts.....

If there was enough interest, we could produce the 21mm bar. We almost did when we decided to build the 5 way 19 (3/4") , since the 21 (7/8") was going to be 85% stiffer, and that sounded like to much. You can stiffen the bar by going to solid bushings and get about the same thing so it didn't make sense. More or less a 19 with solid = 21 with rubber. Or so said the bar manufacturer. Since there isn't a rubber for a 21, either that would have to be molded, or solid which would make it even stiffer. Since there is a typical front to rear ratio to work around, a 21 on the rear would/should require something larger then a 30 on the front.

Wasn't the 30mm front/21mm rear the Turbo Cup set up or did I miss something?
I just experienced slight oversteer in the rain with my cranked up 19mm rear and 30mm front, which is why I'm curious...

spring rates and torsion bars did they run. There are two schools of
sway bars. If you look at NASCAR, some run little bars and lots of spring,
and some run Huge bars and much lighter springs. They both work obviously
or they wouldn't be there. I would imagine you could mix that up front to
rear. So you "may" have to change your rear or front springs to sucessfully
run a 21 rear bar. Haven't tried it...
Going from a 16 to a 19 would be a similiar increase as going 19 to 21. Who has put on a 19 rear, or added solid bushings to their 16 rear, and left the front alone with the original front bar and rubber bushings and got a improvement in handling?
