That would depend on how deep you plan on going into the engine. If every part is going to be measured, I don't see why it would be a problem other than the potential for finding out the parts have been damaged.
For example, my engine block came out of a wrecked car. The A/C compressor bracket tabs were snapped from the block. The block was checked for additional cracks and squareness. Then repaired by welding material back on to recreate the mounting locations.
If it were today, knowing the amount of repairs, the block may have been passed up. But at the time 968 blocks were very scarce.

Find one from a rear end or door collision if you want to be "more" sure. It's still a used unknown engine. As long as you are ready to see it possible bite the big one, go for it. The same with any other used engine.

I parted out a car with front end damage. One of the mounts on the back of the block that bolts to the bellhousing was broken off...
I wouldn't trust it.

I was willing to just let it go into the trash bin, but money paid with no issues was good enough for me to let it go for a few bucks.
The buyer was a good guy, and got the complete LB motor and sold it for much more than I sold it to him. There may be someone on this list that is happy with their purchase of my old 2.5 block that held over 400HP at the wheels for a few years during it's tenure with me.
Used motors are always a chance. You never know what you get unless you know the seller.
I would have not sold this motor to anyone other than a salvage guy. My name and reputation couldn't be part of the deal.

They sell them with no warranty. I sold a 2.5 motor with extensive heat damage to someone as a core for a few bucks. Granted, the block may have been OK, but I felt the damage was enough to just let it go as scrap. The purchaser paid cash, and I have no idea if the bores were good.
