First start, what am I missing
So I've had my 951 sitting in my garage half dissected for 2+ years. Kinda lost interest for a while. I left it in a running state, but dove in for a turbo replacement and that's pretty much were it was left. All paths into and out of the engine were plugged/taped.
I'll be starting her back up tomorrow and was hoping you guys could take a look at the game plan before I turn the key..
What I've done..
- Replaced battery
- Drained gas, replaced with high octane. To drain I jumpered the fuel pump and disconnected gas line from the fuel rail (Lindsey w/stainless lines). Caught in 5 gallon jugs and recycled.
- Poured about 2tbsp oil in each cam tower plug (to lube the cam)
- Poured about 1tbsp oil in each cylinder through the spark plug holes
- Filled the turbo oil inlet with oil (didn't hold much)
The plan...
1. Verify gas lines can hold pressure - remove DME relay and jumper fuel pump
2. Prime oil - Spark plugs & DME relay removed, WOT until I get a decent pressure reading (3 bar)
3. Crank'er up - Put DME relay back, install plugs, cross my fingers and pray for no fires
4. Change oil
You're probably wondering why I didn't change the oil. The reasoning is that there is already oil in the filter. Having this oil there will reduce the time it takes to prime. Also, the existing oil has about 10 miles on it, so it's pretty much new.
Maybe I'm being too ****, but it's going up for sale (moving and wife wants garage back) so last thing I want is to seize the engine.
TIA
