Default 944/951 Sub Enclosures

Hey guys I am currently building a custom sub enclosure for the 944/951 and I was wondering if I were to build several of these how many people would be interested in purchasing one. The one below isn't finished it's a rough idea right now, I've got the frame pretty much done next would be sealing it and doing the fiberglass work.

I'm planning on making these out of fiberglass with a carbon fiber top and clear coat. I'll keep you updated with pics as I continue.

This box measures roughly 4' at the top and 3' at thee bottom and extends 10.5" out... this box is designed for two 10" subs, and I plan on making it available with two 6.5's and a 10" in the center as well.. This concept was made to bring better audio in the 944 while also trying to keep a trunk functional.

In the pics I havent trimed the buttom board all the way it will be roughly back where the rings are sitting.

Any way just give me an idea if anyone is interested so I can see if I wish to produce these regularly.. I am also indevelopment for 6.5 speaker enclosures in the front doors that will use the factory mounting bolts on the door panel.

Might want to make it so you can cover that enclosure when parked; I've seen pictures of smashed hatches for audio goodies.

Might be better off using the spare tire well. This is where I've always built my boxes.
I don't want them to be seen. I like a stock look.

Doesn't that make it so you have to remove the spare tire though? I've seen the spare tire area used for subs as well as the side cargo spots used for 6x9's.... I think they're great ideas. I'm tryin to keep this box as small as possible so it looks nice, leaves space and overall compliment the trunk area.

After all it is going in a porsche

I'm thinking of making some in carbon fiber and some where they will be german vinyled in black or some other color. That way if it's vinyl it can blend in with the interior... but for now carbon fiber is where I'm at.

not a good box for those who put their backseat down regularly. i do.

that being said, for those of y'all with a sub, where do you have it? I'm doing a basstube, and i know i've seen a few pics of other guys' trunks and they're doing the same... anyone have some custom box in the spare tire well or one of the side accessory wells?

I listen punk/rock/jazz.
I made a ported box with an 8" sub in the spare tire well.
Just enough to give my music some bottom end.

I have AAA. So no biggie when I get a flat

CyClonE,

From a rough measurement, I would say your box will only have about .95~1.15 c.f. of air space. This is based on the current angle of your templates. If you roll them 60 degrees north, and taper while maintaining a base height of 10"~13" (height of backseat) you will increase that total to 1.75~2 c.f.

For me I would have to run out your footprint another 5 ". I run L7 SoloBarics, with each one requiring a minimum of 1.25 c.f. (1.75c.f. is ideal) in a ported enclosure. Sealed is larger...roughly 15% so.

In any case the ennclosure size is dependent on the actual subwoofer. Although I can safely say that no decent 10" or 12" requires less than 1 c.f. per speaker.

This is one of the sub boxes I used to make. Height matched the rear seats, fit tight between fenderwells, carpeted to match OEM on the sides and bottom and the top glassed portion I would spray in OEM Porsche colors to match exterior (or whatever the customer wanted):
