Idle okay, dies with throttle
My car developed a problem yesterday that I am trying to solve. Essentially you can be driving it and it will run perfectly fine. Then out of nowhere you lose all power. At this point the engine will idle fine but if you give it gas it wants to kill the engine. It seems like it simply isn't getting extra fuel when you apply the throttle, but it gets enough to idle.
Turning off the car and back on again does not solve the problem. Idle is rough at the start but if you work at it you can get it up to normal and then it sounds fine... until you give gas.
Some hours later the car will be back to normal. Then it will happen again stranding you.
I tried a different DME relay without help, not to say that this particular relay wasn't also bad but it has never been used.
Any ideas? Would a bad TPS cause this to happen?

TPS is mostly likely not the problem (at least not the main problem).
Have you checked fuel pressure? It sounds to me like your FP is dying. The FP is overheating, and not supplying enough fuel for anything but idle. Then after you let the car cool down, the FP is cool enough to work again - at least for a bit.
