How often to change plugs on our cars w/ high boost applications- approx. 12K miles? Which gap tool do you recommend?

I thought the NGK/Bosch were good until I switched to the Denso Iridium. They cost far more than the former but are well worth it IMO.

Tried them in a 400+ hp DSM and mildly modded GTI 1.8T, and both cars started mis-firing after a few thousand miles...

I know this is a 951 forum, but those DSM's are sweet. It was awd right?

Man, I love those cars. I have a friend who had one, 560 awhp, but he sold it after going through three trannys lol.

They are fun, and make power easy/cheaply - but the 951 just feels so much better, almost hard to describe...

Has anyone seen any benefit of running iridium over copper plugs? Brands aside.

I just can't believe how expensive some of those plugs out there are running for, unless there is something to be said about them...

The way I understand it is that the expensive plugs, made out of more exotic metals, last longer.
The NGKs that we use wear much faster, are cheaper, but ironically the coppers are what we need to conduct the spark in our high pressure combustion chambers.
One of those examples where more expensive is not necessarily better.
