so i had to wait over a month to finally get my short shifter and now when i try to put it in the short shifter, the 10mm bolt that connects the short shifter assembly to the selector input shaft going into the transmission doesnt line up.
i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem?
maybe im just doing something wrong, but it seems pretty straightforward.
i really dont want to have to send it back for a new one because of the wait.
Is the transmission in neutral and is your gear lever positioned vertically ?, you will need someone in the car holding the lever while you connect the linkage, assuming all is well.
I would think you could just pull the black shifter rod back a little -- should not be any resistance as the shifter just flops around while disconnected like that.
My Schnell shifter required grinding to allow it to seat in
the shifter rod correctly.(allowing the bolt to line up)
Search the forum, this problem is well documented here.

Well that would explain it. Suppose you could unbolt the shifter from the tranny and see if it will or will not slide into the linkage rod.
My Schnell bolted up perfect. I was told by Vertex where i bought it that there was a bad batch made. I ended up waiting a while for the new batch to be built.
Mine works fine. Maybe yours is one of the bad batch???????
I've got one exactly like that. Just like the other "bad batchers", I just hack sawed mine down. I needed to take off about 1/4". Pretty much the same as what you'll need to shave off. You won't have any problems with it after though so I wouldn't worry too much about grinding it down. It won't even change the position of the shifter either so unless you NEED to have a perfect one just for the sake having a perfect shifter, just grind it down.
