Default Brake Pads: Carbotech v Pagid

Has anyone tried both the Carbotechs (XP8, 10, 12 etc) & the Pagid RS29s (Yellows)? Any preferences or recommendations for ocassional road use but mainly DE. Tim

Don't think Carbotechs are used on Porsches much in the US Tim. I've not heard of them on any forum to be honest. Might be my ignorance. Pagids and PFCs are the pad of choice around here.

Carbotech is out of Ohio. I see a lot of spec Miata's use them. I tried them and thought they were crap, overheated my fluid brakes and caused a DNF. I have a new set that I can let you have for $100. I had switched from pagid orange which were great. I also heartily endorse Blackhawk DTC's as well.

I've run a set of them (XP10's) with no issues on my race car. I've also run many sets on my Camaro without problems.

No experience with the Carbotechs, but a lot of Honda S2000 guys run those and seem to like them. Now you think that "normal" track pads like the Pagid Oranges I run on my daily driver are loud on the street, the Carbotechs are UNGODLY loud, like a freight train stopping.

Pagid Yellows are supposed to be amazing, newer technology than the oranges which have been around forever, but they are too rich for my blood, close to $300 a set. If you can swing that you can't go wrong.

+1 for Pagid here. I have been running them forever on my 951's and never had cause to switch. Yes, they can be a bit loud, but thats not *my* problem.

The PFCs are also awesome. Best bite I've had and that includes Pagid Blacks.

Im a fan of Carbotechs, used them on my S2000 (XP10/XP8) and they were great. I left the rears in and just swapped fronts out before trackdays as the XP8s werent loud on the street/cold.

I now run 996 calipers on my M Coupe and have XP10 rears and they are unbearably loud on the street, Ill have to pull them out in between events. I have Pagid Oranges up front now but will most likely switch to XP12's when they are gone. Ill happily buy PFC/Pagids used but just cant justify the cost new.

Did you solve your post-Pagid PFC issues Patrick? 100% happy with the PFCs again?
