Default New clutch Install question

Just installed a new clutch... everything's in place except the transaxle. Should the drive shaft (torque tube) be able to spin freely or should it be engaged with the clutch and only turn with the engine?

The torque tube splines are engaged into the clutch disk. If you put your foot on the clutch, the pressure plate releases from the clutch disk, allowing the clutch disk and torque tube to spin independently from the flywheel and engine. With your foot off the clutch, the flywheel/clutch disk/pressure plate become one - and as such the torque tube spins with the motor. If your transaxle is in neutral and your foot is off the clutch the torque tube is still engaged and still spins with the motor, but is not engaged to the rear wheels.

That's kinda what I figured... uh oh. The drive shaft spins freely and the slave cylinder isn't installed yet.

Try pushing the drive shaft forward, it may have slid back and is not in the clutch disk.
