Default Starting Issue

While my car was at the body shop, the battery died, so I gave them a new one to install. When I went to pick it up, it wouldn’t start and they told me they had a starting issue with it and had to “push the fuel reset button” behind the glove box and it started, but later wouldn’t start again when they went to move it. The car turns over normally, but nothing happens. I have an Apexi SAFC II fuel controller and noticed that it didn’t turn on when I turned on the ignition. It just gave a small flash as if it started to get power, but was cut off. The controller runs off of the red/yellow wire that goes from maf to dme. I tried another power source and the fuel controller turned on normally. I also noticed a clicking sound from the alarm box when I open the doors, so I tried bypassing the alarm and when I did this, I didn’t even get the small flash on the fuel controller that I was getting before. At this point I really don’t have a good starting point on where to begin with this. Has anyone experience anything like this?

Thanks

Is the ticking from the alarm box normal? It sounds sort of like a blinker and it does this 10-12 time when a door is opened.. I'm wondering if the alarm is killing signal to the DME.

I bet the alarm is what killed the battery in the first place...

If it is the factory alarm I would see about removing all of it from the car... it may also be what is causing the no start...

if it is an aftermarket alarm, It should be that much easier to remove...

Thanks for the advice. It has the factory alarm, so I'll do a search and see what's involved in removing it all together.

It's not difficult to remove. Just two jumper wires IIRC. I even think Clark's Garage has a writeup on it.

Just an update, I tried the alarm bypass procedure and the car started. Thanks for the advice. Does anyone happen to have an alarm relay sitting around that they would sell? I'd rather replace it with a good unit rather than using the bypass wires.
